Malibu Monstrosity: When a Chevrolet Dreams of Being an Aston Martin and Fails Miserably

Could this be the ugliest car ever? The limited-production Aston V12 Zagato caught the eye of a Chevrolet Malibu owner who, unable to secure the model, opted to transform his midsize sedan into a makeshift Martin Mashup. Unfortunately, the outcome is less than appealing. Luckily for us, someone posted the car on Reddit so we can safely view from a distance.

Viewed from the front, the car could pass as an Aston Martin at first glance, but a closer look reveals a mismatched logo – a Chevrolet Corvette’s cross-flagged emblem instead of the iconic wings. As you move to the side, the modifications just become more and more unconventional.

The rear doors are replaced with body kits attempting to emulate a coupe design, though the execution lacks finesse, with poorly installed window panels. At the back, the car sports taillights and a diffuser borrowed from Ferrari’s last naturally-aspirated V8-powered sports car, the 458, and features a Formula 1-style center brake light for a sporty touch. While the exhaust sound remains unknown due to a cut-short video, the interior exposes the Chevrolet Malibu origins. Why? One may ask, would someone build this? Was it an attempt to make the Malibu “Cool?” We’re not sure, but this certainly goes down as one of the ugliest and worst car builds in our books.

Although the car is rock bottom, the Reddit comments are pure gold.

Final Thoughts On This Malibu-Martin Mashup?

Unveiling the eighth-generation Malibu’s interior exposes an unconventional choice – an aftermarket flush-type door handle, evoking the design found on the Nissan GT-R. While striving for a sleek presentation, this modification inadvertently lays bare the car’s fundamental identity. Despite efforts to conceal its true nature, it’s reasonable to assume that beneath the altered facade, the core elements such as the chassis and engine likely remain untouched.

The ultimate litmus test for this audacious build rests on the owner’s satisfaction, hoping that the unique modifications have met their expectations. Given the intricacies involved, it’s acknowledged that such a distinctive transformation may have incurred a notable financial investment. Yet, if the blend of aesthetics and performance aligns with the owner’s vision, the cost becomes secondary to the fulfillment derived from this personalized automotive creation.
