A Fusion of Past Glory and Present Power in the new Nissan Z

The all-new Nissan Z, a testament to the brand’s sports car legacy, channels the spirit of its predecessors with subtle design nods while injecting more power and driving satisfaction than ever before.

Since its debut in 1969, the Nissan Z has been a spirited and affordable two-door coupe, and the latest iteration continues this tradition. Drawing inspiration from iconic models like the 240Z and 300ZX, the new Z showcases design elements such as the quarter-panel insignia and LED taillights. Under the hood, it packs a 400-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 engine borrowed from the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport, available with a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2024 lineup introduces the NISMO model, elevating performance with 420 horsepower, a limited-slip differential, larger wheels, enhanced brakes, stiffer suspension, and distinctive bodywork.

Pricing and Recommendations:

  • Sport: $43,305
  • Performance: $53,305
  • NISMO: $66,085

For an optimal blend of performance and value, the mid-range Z Performance trim is suggested, offering a sportier suspension, limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes, and the choice between a manual or automatic transmission.

Specs and Performance

Engine and Performance:
Powered by a 400-hp twin-turbo V-6, the Z accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds (manual) or 4.3 seconds (automatic). While not as quick as some rivals, its cornering grip and driving thrills remain commendable. The NISMO variant boasts 420 horsepower, larger brake discs, a stiffer suspension, and increased chassis rigidity.

Fuel Efficiency:
The Z’s fuel efficiency varies with transmission choice. The automatic offers 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, while the manual slightly drops to 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. The high-performance NISMO maintains a comparable efficiency, with an EPA-estimated 17 city and 24 highway mpg.

Interior and Technology:
Inside, the Z embraces modernity with an 8.0-inch infotainment display (optional 9.0-inch with navigation), a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Safety features include automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

Warranty and Maintenance:
Nissan’s warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles, with a powertrain warranty extending to five years or 60,000 miles. However, there’s no complimentary scheduled maintenance.
